Heat records set in 39 Alberta communities Wednesday
Mid-January continues to be a particularly warm one in Alberta.
Environment Canada says heat records were set in 39 communities across the province on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, including 14 in the southern region.
Among those, Claresholm was the warmest at 19.5 degrees Celsius, breaking its previous record of 13.8 from 2008.
Lethbridge was also one of the hotter communities, reaching a high of 17.5 degrees. That put an end to the city’s 84-year-old record from 1942.
