Lethbridge County has announced a project that will cause travel disruptions in a rural area.

A bridge replacement will commence on Tuesday, Jan. 20, on Range Road 21-1, on the canal between Township Roads 10-0 and 10-2.

This area is approximately 17 kilometres northeast of downtown Lethbridge.

The County says the bridge has reached the end of its lifespan and will be replaced with a culvert.

During construction, the bridge will be closed to all traffic. The following detours will be in place:

  • Northbound Detour:
    • West via TWP 10-0 to RR 21-2, or
    • East via TWP 10-0 to RR 21-0
  • Southbound Detour:
    • West via TWP 10-2 to RR 21-2, or
    • East via TWP 10-2 to RR 21-0

Motorists are asked to drive with care in the area and watch for workers and detours.

The project is part of Lethbridge County’s annual capital budget, and is funded in part through a grant.

Work should wrap up in mid-February, weather-permitting.
