A 46-year-old Brooks man, charged with human trafficking and other offences

A 46-year-old man from Brooks has been arrested and charged with human trafficking and other offences.

Brooks RCMP say the offences stem from five years of allegations.

Mounties began the investigation in February 2025 when a female victim reported that she was in a relationship with a man who allegedly forced her to have multiple sexual encounters with random men for money, which he controlled and orchestrated.

Shortly after, the Brooks RCMP General Investigation Section took over the file, working in partnership with the RCMP Human Trafficking Coordinator, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team Human Trafficking Unit, and the Alberta RCMP Interview Assistance Team.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in Brooks on March 25, 2025. Evidence was seized, including electronics, various illegal substances, and paraphernalia.

Chad Jensen was arrested by the Brooks RCMP on Jan. 8, 2026.

He is charged with distribute intimate image, assault, trafficking in persons, trafficking in persons and receiving material benefit, and two counts each of administer noxious thing, and sexual assault.

Jensen was remanded into custody after a judicial interim release hearing.

He appeared in court and was released to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Brooks on Feb. 11, 2026.

Brooks RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Rob Harms said that human trafficking and related offences such as this are serious in nature and always have lasting negative impacts on involved victims and the community.

“The involved investigators in this case conducted a meticulous and time-consuming investigation, ensuring the offender was brought to justice and held accountable,” Harms said.

RCMP Human Trafficking Coordinator Sgt. Roland Misik said that human trafficking can affect any community, regardless of size or demographic.

“Perpetrators of this crime seek out the most vulnerable people in society and use that vulnerability against them to gain control, not just physically but psychologically, making it extremely difficult for the victim to realize they are being manipulated and exploited,” Misik said.

Brooks RCMP believes there may be more victims of Jensen, and anyone who thinks they have been exploited or trafficked by Jensen is asked to come forward.

Mounties say they have resources available to help.
