Two arrested in drug trafficking investigation in Fort Macleod

The RCMP has apprehended two people who are accused of drug trafficking.

Officers from the Piikani Nation and Fort Macleod detachments say they received intelligence of possible drug trafficking in Fort Macleod in January 2026.

A search warrant was executed on Friday, Jan. 23.

Members claim to have seized 469 grams of suspected cocaine, 53 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 242 oxycodone pills, two fentanyl tablets, three grams of suspected psilocybin, and other prescription medication and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Darcy Pedersen, 47, of Fort Macleod, and Shannon Calderwood, 51, of Pincher Creek, are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, production of a substance (cocaine), and possession of drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Both suspects have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on Feb. 11, 2026.
