Crash on Stafford Dr. N. leaves one dead

 LETHBRIDGE  – Police say alcohol and speed were factors in a deadly single-vehicle crash on Stafford Drive north early Friday morning.

Shortly before 3:00, a Dodge Challenger was speeding northbound on Stafford near 10th St. N. when the driver lost control and hit a post in the centre median.

The driver, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital, where she died of her injuries. Her name has not been released. Two passengers were taken to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.  No names have been released.

Investigators remained on the scene and traffic was detoured for almost five hours to facilitate the investigation. Stafford Drive was reopened to traffic just before 8:30 a.m.
