Pattison Media’s B93.3FM and WILD 95.5 will be among the local radio stations raising money for the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation (CRHF).

The 16th Annual Care from the Heart Radio-a-Thon is set to take place on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Radio hosts will speak with healthcare professionals, administrators, donors, patients and frontline staff, as they share their transformative stories.

They will also illustrate how donations to the CRHF directly influence and elevate patient comfort and care at Chinook Regional Hospital.

Dr. Sayeh Zielke, Cardiac Sciences Physician Lead at Alberta Health Services, says, as a cardiologist, she sees firsthand the impact that delayed access to care can have on patients and families in southern Alberta.

“Timely access to cardiac care close to home is critical to improving outcomes,” says Zielke.

Money raised at the 16th Annual Care from the Heart Radio-a-Thon will support the Bringing Hearts Home Campaign, which aims to build new cardiac care centres at Chinook Regional Hospital and Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

The CRHF recently reported that it is approaching $25 million of its $30 million goal.

Crystal Elliott, CEO of the CRHF, says that with more than 83 per cent of their goal already achieved, this year represents a pivotal chapter in their journey.

“This progress reflects extraordinary community belief. At the same time, the work is not finished. I remember how challenging it was to raise our first five to six million dollars, and our final five to six million will require the same determination, focus, and partnership, alongside continued government collaboration,” says Elliott.

On Feb. 12, donations can be made by calling 403-388-6001, visiting the CRHF office in the hospital’s atrium, or by visiting crhfoundation.ca
