Heat records set Thursday in 11 southern Alberta communities
Southern Alberta’s unusually warm February continued on Thursday.
Environment Canada says heat records were broken in 26 communities across the province on Feb. 5, 2026.
Milk River was the hottest at 19.9 degrees Celsius, breaking its previous record of 11.7 degrees set in 2002.
The oldest heat record that was broken was in Red Deer. With a high of nine degrees, it toppled the record that was set 102 years ago in 1924.
