Lethbridge Polytechnic discontinues Coulee Fest

Coulee Fest is officially a thing of the past.

Lethbridge Polytechnic debuted the event in 2017 as part of its 60th anniversary celebration.

After nine years, however, the post-secondary institution has decided to discontinue it.

Stephanie Savage, associate director of external engagement, says they, and schools around the country, have had to carefully review where their time and resources are best spent.

“While Coulee Fest has been a successful and well-loved event, continuing to deliver it at the scale it requires is no longer the right fit. Instead, we must focus on work that most directly supports students and the long-term sustainability of the institution,” says Savage.

She adds that she is deeply grateful to all of the attendees, volunteers, students and sponsors who have helped to make Coulee Fest a fun and meaningful tradition over the years.

“While this chapter is ending, we remain committed to finding new ways to connect with and celebrate our community in the future, and we look forward [to] continuing that work together.”

Savage says that many people and groups are facing similar challenges, and the Polytechnic appreciates their understanding.

Going forward, Savage says the Polytechnic will further emphasize supporting other community events.
