A house fire on the south side remains under investigation.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) was called to the 2600 block of Scenic Drive South at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12.

Crews from three stations arrived to find a fire inside the home. It was quickly extinguished before it could spread beyond the room of origin.

One person was treated at the scene, and they were taken to hospital for further assessment and care. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

The fire department says it caused “significant” damage, and the cause is currently unknown.

LFES reminds residents and property owners to test their smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries as needed. Working smoke alarms provide early warning and can save lives.
