Two EV chargers added to Helen Schuler Nature Centre

The City of Lethbridge has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging network.

It has installed two charging stations at the northern end of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s parking lot.

They are FLO level 2 chargers, which offer 19.2 kW delivery. According to motorwatt.com, these are generally considered to be the fastest EV charging stations available for home installation, fully charging most vehicles in about three to five hours.

This was done thanks to the Electric Vehicle Charging Program at Alberta Municipalities, which supports the growing adoption of EVs and ensures the city remains accessible to EV drivers.

Mark Svenson, Environmental Manager at the City of Lethbridge, says expanding their EV infrastructure is a strategic investment that supports long-term transportation, environmental and economic objectives.

“A well-distributed charging network gives residents and visitors more options for getting around and exploring Lethbridge,” says Svenson.

He adds that broader EV infrastructure means fewer greenhouse gas emissions by enabling a shift away from gas-powered vehicles.

There are now 26 publicly available Level 2 chargers in Lethbridge:

  • Downtown Park ‘n Ride Transit Terminal (10)
  • VisitLethbridge.com Arena (6)
  • City Hall (4)
  • Cavendish Farms Centre (4)
  • Helen Schuler Nature Centre (2)

EV owners can also find two FLO DC fast chargers at Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens, which offer 100 kW delivery.
