Jacobs plays men’s curling gold, Maltais seeks fourth medal at Milan Cortina Olympics
MILAN — Brad Jacobs, Canada’s 2014 Olympic champion, seeks a second gold while Valérie Maltais chases her fourth medal of the Milan Cortina Games in long-track speedskating on Day 15.
Jacobs’ Calgary-based rink looks to end Canada’s 12-year golden drought in men’s curling when it faces Scotland’s Bruce Mouat and Great Britain in the final. Canada beat the British 9-5 in round-robin play.
On the women’s side, Rachel Homan’s Ottawa-based rink will play for bronze Saturday against the United States’ Tabitha Peterson. Canada has not medalled in women’s curling since winning gold at the 2014 Sochi Games.
Fresh off a bronze medal in the women’s 1,500 metres, Maltais will be in search of another medal in the women’s mass start final. Fellow Canadian Ivanie Blondin, the defending silver medallist from Beijing 2022, will also be in the field.
