Residents of Taber can help to shape the long-term future of recreation services.

The Town of Taber has launched a Recreation Facility Feasibility Study to guide future planning and decisions regarding indoor recreation.

The study will look at long-term options for recreation space, which may include upgrades to existing facilities or potential new buildings.

The Town says in a news release that they want to better understand current and future recreation needs.

“Your input will help identify what programs and services are most important, what features matter most, and how indoor recreation spaces can best serve our community,” reads a statement from the Town of Taber.

The survey comes after an explosion occurred in the Community Centre on Dec. 17, 2025. A fuel system failure in the Community Centre’s ice resurfacer filled the room with gas, which was ignited by an electric heater.

The explosion caused significant damage to the facility, leading town officials and residents to ponder what the future of the Community Centre might be.
