A Lethbridge man accused in a pedestrian collision has had one of his charges upgraded.

Just before 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 2, 2026, the Lethbridge Police Service was called to the intersection of 13 Street and 3 Avenue North.

They say a Dodge Ram truck travelling eastbound on 3 Ave turned southbound onto 13 Street and collided with a 78-year-old man, who was a pedestrian.

“The driver displayed signs of impairment, and following further investigation, was subsequently charged,” reads a news release from LPS.

The victim was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with significant head injuries and was later transferred to Calgary.

He died on Friday, Mar. 6.

Joseph Cameron Brewster, 56, of Lethbridge, was originally charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, but that has now been upgraded to impaired driving causing death.

He also faces one count of driving over .08.

Brewster is scheduled to appear in court on April 29, 2026.
