Lethbridge students take part in regional trades competition

Nearly 75 high school students from southwestern Alberta are set to compete in the South West Regional Skills Canada Competition on Saturday, March 21, at Lethbridge Polytechnic.

The event includes 10 categories for competitions such as: Automotive Service Technology, Baking, Cabinet Making, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Electrical Installations, Hairstyling, Video Production, and Welding. A Skills Challenge for Registered Apprenticeship Program students in Heavy Equipment Technician is also scheduled.

Competitions are set to start up at 7:45 a.m., with winners announced at 4 p.m. in AN 1804.

Visitors also have the option to observe competitors throughout the day, particularly during Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Winter Open House from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organizers say the event aims to reward students for their performance and showcase trades and technology occupations.
