Lethbridge County encouraging residents to share input through residential growth survey

Mar 17, 2026 | 4:50 PM

Lethbridge County says residents still have time to complete a short survey as part of the update to the Residential Land Use Strategy.

The strategy is a long-term planning document that helps guide residential development in the county, with the survey to help plan in a responsible way that reflects community priorities.

“We launched this survey in January, and we’ve received some feedback so far,” says Kaylyn Franklin, Manager, Planning and Development. “But we need more voices at the table. If you live in Lethbridge County, this strategy will affect you, and we encourage you to take a few minutes to share your perspective before the survey closes.”

The survey asks residents on topics like where residential development should be focused; should the county focus on protecting agricultural land when planning for residential development, and are there any current restrictions on residential development that could be changed?

Additionally, the county has been holding engagement sessions with industry leaders to identify market needs, challenges, and opportunities to provide a more complete understanding of residential development in Lethbridge County.

Once the survey closes, county staff will compile the feedback and use it to prepare a draft strategy to be presented to county council in September 2026.

The final strategy is expected to be presented to the public by the end of 2026.

The survey closes March 31; residents can take the survey online at the County’s website [ [https://lethcounty.ca/p/planning-and-development], in person at the county office, or by phone at 403-328-5525.
