Canada’s Elena Gaskell takes slopestyle silver at World Cup stop in France
TIGNES — Canadian freestyle skier Elena Gaskell finished second in women’s slopestyle at a World Cup event on Thursday.
The Vernon, B.C., product rebounded after a tough Olympic outing last month, where she fell on both qualifying runs and placed 23rd at the Milan Cortina Games.
Britain’s Kirsty Muir, who placed fourth at the Olympics, won with 82.78 points, while Gaskell had 76.60 and Austria’s Lara Wolf was third at 76.41. Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Que., finished eighth.
Muir leads the women’s slopestyle standings with 200 points after winning both of her starts this season, while Gaskell sits second with 185 points after finishing fifth at the Laax Open and third in Snowmass earlier this year.
