University of Lethbridge to host lecture on gambling
The University of Lethbridge is set to host a free lecture on gambling later this month.
Dr. Robert Williams, research coordinator with the Alberta Gambling Research Institute and professor in the university’s Faculty of Health Sciences, will present “Legalized Gambling in Canada: Winners and Losers” on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge.
Williams is set to discuss the social and economic impacts of gambling, including who benefits, who loses, and the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). He will also examine gambling behaviour, including patterns in electronic gaming and cognitive biases that affect players.
The Public Professor Series, run by the University of Lethbridge Senate, offers free lectures on relevant topics. The March 26 talk will be the last of the 2025-26 season.
