Lethbridge Public Library BookStop closing March 31

The Lethbridge Public Library’s temporary BookStop location closes at the end of March.

The pilot project was launched at the Labour Club Ice Centre to help expand access to resources on Lethbridge’s north side.

Over several months, the BookStop provided a place for community members to pick up holds, browse the small collection, and return materials without travelling all the way to the main branch.

According to the library, over 30,000 residents live in North Lethbridge, and the area continues to be underserved for library access.

“Libraries work best when they’re part of the neighbourhoods they serve,” says Lethbridge Public Library CEO Terra Plato. “The BookStop has helped us better understand how northside residents want to access services as we plan for the future.”

With the location closing, officials say the library will continue exploring alternative opportunities to bring their services to the north side through partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community spaces.

Anyone interested in partnering with the Lethbridge Public Library can contact Terra Plato at 403-380-7341 or Terra.Plato@lethlib.ca.

The BookStop officially closes March 31, 2026.
