City’s yard waste sites reopen tomorrow

Mar 31, 2026 | 10:43 AM

The City of Lethbridge’s three self-service yard waste sites are open for the season starting Wednesday, April 1.

City officials say all three locations will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

  • North – 2200 Stafford Drive North
  • South – 2665 28 Avenue South
  • West – 296 Bridge Drive West

Residents are reminded to follow good yard waste site practices to help ensure a safe and successful experience for everyone:

  • Residential yard waste only.
  • Customers must be able to unload their own materials.
  • Use paper bags to avoid having to unbag materials from plastic bags.
  • Only one person is allowed at a time when using the compactor or branch chipper.
  • Diseased elm tree branches must be taken to the Waste & Recycling Centre. (Elm tree pruning ban is in effect as of April 1.)

If you aren’t sure if your yard waste is green cart or yard waste site approved, you can look it up with the Waste Wizard or the Lethbridge Loop app.

This year, the city notes that residents can also drop off mattresses and box springs at any of the yard waste sites, as part of a mattress diversion pilot program
