WCLC reflects on Problem Gambling Awareness Month

Mar 31, 2026 | 2:01 PM

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation is taking a look back on the work done during Problem Gambling Awareness Month in March.

Throughout the month, they focused on building awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging open conversations about gambling-related harm.

“Problem Gambling Awareness Month is an important reminder that gambling-related harm is a health issue that requires understanding, compassion, and action,” said Chris Santschi, President & CEO of WCLC, in a media release. “We are proud of the steps taken this month and remain committed to supporting players and communities year-round.”

The Corporation ran social media campaigns that shared messages about Healthy Play, the supports available for those who need them, and the importance of early prevention.

Internally, the WCLC also made responsible gambling training available to all staff to ensure employees can support players. The training will also continue to be available over the next few months.

Despite March ending, confidential support is available across Canada for anyone who needs it.
