The Canada Border Services Agency shared Thursday that it recently seized 86.9 kg of suspected cocaine at the Coutts border crossing.

CBSA officers were examining a commercial truck on Feb. 15; it had been declared that the truck was carrying produce bound for Calgary.

During the search, officers found 70 bricks of suspected cocaine hidden inside three suitcases.

The driver of the truck was arrested by CBSA officers and, along with the suspected drugs, was transferred to the custody of the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region.

“This significant seizure highlights both the critical and ongoing role CBSA officers play in disrupting organized crime and preventing dangerous drugs from reaching Alberta communities,” says Janalee Bell-Boychuk, Regional Director General, Prairie Region, Canada Border Services Agency.

“In collaboration with our RCMP partners, the CBSA works tirelessly to secure our borders and keep Canadians safe.”

In 2025, CBSA officers in Alberta were responsible for making 1,292 seizures of illegal narcotics, including 1,054 kg of cocaine and 279 kg of methamphetamine.
