Southern Alberta Ethnic Association celebrates 10-year milestone

Apr 2, 2026 | 3:45 PM

The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association (SAEA) is inviting the community to celebrate a milestone as it marks 10 years of operating from the Multicultural Centre in Lethbridge.

Founded in 1977, the SAEA says it has, for five decades, promoted multicultural understanding and celebrated the region’s diversity.

Since relocating in 2016 to the Multicultural Centre–a repurposed historic fire station owned by the City of Lethbridge–the SAEA has expanded its reach as a central hub for cultural exchange and community engagement.

To celebrate the anniversary, the association is set to host a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Multicultural Centre (421-6 Ave South).

SAEA says the event will feature cultural performances showcasing music and dance from around the world, interactive workshops, and historical exhibits highlighting the organization’s journey and achievements.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with local cultural groups and community organizations during a networking session, followed by a reception.

Organizers say the event is not only a celebration of the past decade but also a reflection of the city’s cultural diversity.
