Local hockey players to take part in Brick Invitational Tournament

A pair of local hockey players have been selected to take part in a prestigious tournament featuring teams from throughout North America.

Hunter Lee from Lethbridge and Marek Ohler from Taber, are U9 hockey players that have made the roster of Team Brick Alberta for the upcoming Brick Invitational – the Super Novice Tournament held annually at the Ice Palace in West Edmonton Mall. This year’s event will run from June 28-July 5, 2026.

Lee and Ohler were selected for the team following a tryout held in Edmonton last month which included more than 120 invited players from acoss the province competing for one of the team’s 17 roster spots.

Team Brick Alberta is described as an elite hockey prospect development program run by hockey coaches and professionals.

Since 1990, organizers say Brick Hockey has worked with top nine and 10-year-old hockey players across North America to expose them to an environment and venue like no other in the world.

They say former participants now playing in the NHL, include Steven Stamkos, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Morgan Reilly, Brent Seabrook and PK Subban, among others.
