Brooks RCMP respond to fatal motor vehicle collision
Brooks RCMP are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that left a woman dead and a child with serious injuries.
Along with police, emergency crews, including EMS, the Fire Department, and Peace Officers, were called to the incident south of Brooks at about 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, to the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 539 after multiple reports of a collision.
Mounties said a damaged SUV was found in the west ditch, where a 35-year-old woman from Pincher Creek was declared dead at the scene, while a child with serious injuries was transported and later airlifted to a hospital.
The vehicle had been travelling northbound when it left the roadway, according to police, and crossed into the opposite ditch and rolled.
RCMP say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors, as the investigation is ongoing.
A fundraiser has been launched for the family.
