Volunteer Lethbridge celebrating National Volunteer Week with multiple events

Apr 19, 2026 | 8:00 AM

Volunteer Lethbridge is recognizing the contributions and impact of local volunteers with several upcoming events.

April 19-25 is National Volunteer Week, and Volunteer Lethbridge is following the theme of Ignite Volunteerism by helping individuals discover ways to give back and strengthen their communities.

“National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate the incredible spirit of volunteerism that makes Lethbridge such a strong and connected community,” says Sandi Davis, executive director at Volunteer Lethbridge. “I am continually inspired by the generosity, compassion, and energy of our volunteers who make a lasting impact every day. Thank you!”

The festivities kick off Sunday, April 19, with a Volunteer Expo at Park Place Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Organizers say the expo will showcase local non-profit groups and present community members the chance to learn how these groups make a difference and how they can get involved.

Then on Monday, April 20, there will be an unveiling of the brand-new National Volunteer Week flag with a flag-raising ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Lethbridge City Hall.

Lastly, on Wednesday, April 22, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre will be hosting two events from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Volunteer Lethbridge says attendees will be able to participate in the Coulee Clean-up launch, learning the importance of keeping coulees clean and of ways they can lend a hand.

The Centre is also unveiling the Seeds of Volunteerism Wall, a symbolic installation meant to represent the reach and impact of volunteerism.

It will consist of 469 boxes, each containing 100 seeds to reflect the estimated 46,900 volunteers in Lethbridge in 2025.
