The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) has announced its top on-ice award winners, with Beaver Valley Nitehawks forward Brady Magarrell earning Most Valuable Player honours.

Nitehawks head coach and general manager Terry Jones said the Coaldale native was deserving of the recognition in a league filled with talent.

Magarrell finished second in league scoring with 75 points (33 goals, 42 assists) in 44 games, highlighted by a 13-game point streak in which he recorded 31 points.

He added three five-point games and averaged 17:38 of ice time per contest while posting a positive 64 rating.

A key driver for Beaver Valley, Magarrell scored six game-winning goals and was a major contributor on special teams, posting 14 power-play points and three shorthanded goals.

The organization says he also excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 61.12 per cent of his draws.

Jones praised Magarrell’s consistency, competitiveness and leadership throughout the season, noting his ability to elevate teammates and positively impact games in all situations.
