The owners of the Runners Soul athletic store in Lethbridge are being recognized by the University of Lethbridge.

Shawn and Erin Pinder will be honoured with the University of Lethbridge Volunteer Award for their commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle for people of all ages.

The Pinders are known for their role as sponsors and volunteering for numerous running events and the vibrant community they created through their walking and running clinics and clubs.

Shaw has also served on the University Senate for two terms and is president of the Prairie Runners Race Association, while Erin has been president of the Independent Running Retailers of Canada and has been a volunteer coach for the Lethbridge Track and Field Team and the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Cross Country Team.

The Pinders are both former students of ULethbridge, competing on the Pronghorn swim team.

Their participation in the Adopt-A-Horn program helping students cover costs associated with their sport, resulted in them receiving the Knud Petersen Spirit in Sport Award in 2012.

Erin joined the Runners Soul Marathon Club in 1998 and was recruited to join the Runners Soul staff, succeeding the then owner in 2007, alongside Shawn.

The Pinders will receive the Volunteer Award at the Spring 2026 Convocation Ceremony May 29.
