Sanchez’s two-run shot lifts Blue Jays to 4-2 win over Guardians in rubber match
TORONTO — Jesus Sanchez’s two-run homer in the sixth inning and three-RBI game lifted the Toronto Blue Jays to a 4-2 win in the rubber match of their three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led off the sixth with a double for his third hit of the game to set the table for Sanchez’s fourth of the season, which landed a few feet above where his teammate’s shot smacked off the right-field wall.
The Blue Jays (12-15) won their second series in a row, while the American League Central Division-leading Guardians (15-14) lost for the third time in four outings.
Sanchez’s game-winning smash came off Cleveland starter Slade Cecconi (0-4). He lasted 5 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
