Suarez shines as Red Sox blank Blue Jays 5-0 in three-game series opener
TORONTO —
Boston starter Ranger Suarez was brilliant over eight shutout innings to help the Red Sox extend their winning streak to three games with a 5-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.
Suarez (2-2) didn’t allow a hit until Jesus Sanchez led off the sixth inning with a double down the left-field line.
The hit brought some life to the sellout crowd of 41,785, but Suarez retired the next three batters in order. He issued one walk and had 10 strikeouts.
