Spring Forward: Jays reinstate designated hitter George Springer from injured list

Apr 29, 2026 | 11:56 AM

TORONTO —

The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated designated hitter George Springer from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday.

The move was made about an hour before the start of a matinee against the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre.

Springer was not in the starting lineup for the rubber match of the three-game series but was available off the bench. Recent call-up Yohendrick Pinango was tabbed to bat sixth in the order as the DH.

Springer, who finished seventh in American League MVP voting last year, suffered a big toe fracture on April 11 when he fouled a pitch off his left foot.

The 36-year-old slugger entered play with a .185 batting average this season with two homers and six RBIs.

In a corresponding roster move, utilityman Eloy Jimenez was designated for assignment.
