April 16, 1940 – May 4, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, great-grandma, “Darlin”, and sister, ROSE BERESNAK on Monday, May 4, 2026.

Mom was born in Turin, Alberta on April 16, 1940 and grew up on the family farm in Kipp, where she was the resident animal whisperer.

In her teens, she participated in many sports, with baseball and basketball being her favourites. She continued this love when her kids were small, playing in a ladies softball league. She also had a love for dancing. Oh, how she loved to dance.

Mom found employment with the Royal Bank, where she began a career which she retired from after 32 ½ years.

Mom was very artistic and put her great talent to use decorating cakes. She was the family favourite to make every birthday extra special with her amazing creations.

Over the past few years, Mom struggled with Alzheimer’s, which prompted a move to Legacy Lodge, where she thoroughly enjoyed the activities and the friends that she made. She also genuinely loved the staff who cared for her.

Mom is survived by her daughter Debbie Holstine (Brian), grandsons: Jim Buttazzoni, Brad Buttazzoni, and Mike Buttazzoni (Kristen), great-grandsons: Dexter, Damian and Jaxon; and her son Randy Ellingson (Dionne), grandkids: Paige (Cole) Nelson, Dillon (Sarah) Ellingson, Kash (Bricelle) Ellingson, Rhett Ellingson, and Bradee (Wyatt) Olsen, great-grandkids Vance, Norah, Quinn, Clay, Rowen (deceased), Albany, Salem, Waylon, and Hank. She is also survived by her sisters: Helen Ruston, Ann Lastuka and Mary Lane, as well as her brother Fred Leverick and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Fred and Annie Leverick, her brothers-in-law Mel Ruston, Nick Lastuka and Tom Lane, and her great-grandson Rowen Ellingson.

A Celebration of Rose’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. with Pat Siedlecki officiating. The Celebration of life will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Rose’s obituary on our website.

Following the Celebration of Life, Rose will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.
