Emergency Social Services volunteers wanted by City of Lethbridge

May 7, 2026 | 1:01 PM

If you’ve every thought of giving back to your community in a time of crisis, the City of Lethbridge is giving you the chance by joining its Emergency Social Services team.

During emergencies, ESS volunteers help people displaced from their homes access short-term supports such as lodging, food, clothing, emotional support and connections to other community resources.

The City’s Emergency Planning Administrator, Jamie Anderson, says they’re not just building a volunteer list, they’re building a team.

“When emergencies force people from their homes, a coordinated and compassionate response can make all the difference.”

As part of Emergency Preparedness Week, the City is holding sign-up session for potential volunteers tomorrow (Friday) from 9 ’til Noon in the Culver Room at City Hall.

No prior experience is needed and all the training for ESS volunteers is paid for by the program.
