City prepares for ‘next steps’ in EMS discussions with Province

The City of Lethbridge repeated its commitment of pushing to keep the current integrated emergency services model it’s had for close to a century.

In a release Wednesday, it termed the situation ‘a highly complex issue with many moving parts including operational considerations, service delivery standards, staffing, governance and long-term financial sustainability.’

One of the possibilities the City said in its statement, that could be explored, although there’s been no indication of any formal discussions, is to look at reducing non-emergency inter-facility transfers.

In the meantime, the City has created a dedicated web page to provide updates for the community.
