The emergency department at the Fort Macleod Health Centre will be closed to the public until 8 p.m. this evening.
In a statement, Alberta Health Services said the closure is due to an unexpected clinical personnel shortage and inability to secure coverage.
It will reopen for 24-hour service at 8 p.m.
During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents and emergency calls (911) will be transferred to the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
