The first-ever Canadian Grand Slam of Baseball event opens Thursday in Lethbridge, but the Canadian College World Series games, which were to take centre stage at Spitz Stadium, have now been moved across town.

In a Lethbridge Bulls Facebook post late Wednesday afternoon, club president Kevin Kwame said, due to field conditions and for safety reasons, the decision was made to move the games to Lloyd Nolan Yard over on 7th Avenue North.

The Bulls are scheduled to play their first games of the season on the May 30-31 weekend at Spitz Stadium, which received a new playing surface during the off-season.

As for the Canadian College World Series…

The University of Calgary Dinos face BC’s Okanagan College in the opener Thursday morning at 11:30.

Edmonton Collegiate play the University of the Fraser Valley at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Then, it’s Canadian College Baseball Conference Awards at 5:30, followed by the final game of the day – Vancouver Island University taking on the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs.

First pitch there is at 7:00.
