Residential rate decreases; non-residential increases

Council adopts annual mill rate in the Town of Coalhurst

May 21, 2026 | 12:33 PM

This year’s mill rates have been set for the Town of Coalhurst, and some good news, a slight decrease from last year for residential properties.

The new rate for 2026 will be just under 6.93, down from 2025’s 7.26.

For a $400,000 home, that equates to about $2,772 in taxes.

The non-residential benchmark, however, will see a rise from 9.90 to 10.31 and change.

The mill rate, passed at Tuesday night’s Council meeting, allows municipalities to properly collect taxes, based on a property’s assessed value.

In Coalhurst, tax notices are traditionally mailed out in June with payment due July 31st.
