Engstler, Carleton carry Fire past Tempo 99-80 in 1st meeting of WNBA expansion teams
TORONTO — Emily Engstler had 16 points, including nine in the third quarter, as the Portland Fire routed the Toronto Tempo 99-80 on Saturday.
Bridget Carleton of Chatham-Kent, Ont., had 15 points thanks to a 4-for-8 night from three-point range for Portland (3-3). Megan Gustafson scored 14 off the bench.
Marina Mabrey and rookie Kiki Rice had 19 points apiece as Toronto (3-4) lost back-to-back games.
Mabrey almost had a double-double with eight assists and five rebounds. Rice added five boards and three assists.
