It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of WENDELL ANDREW ALCOCK, in his home in Milk River, on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Wendell is survived by his wife Shelagh; as well as his younger siblings, Mitchell (nephew Jackson) and Marshall (wife Tracy, niece Lauren).
He was preceded in death by his dad and mom, Ron and Val Alcock.
Wendell was born on October 30, 1965 at the Kenora Hospital and remained in Kenora his early 20s. Wendell was an incredibly bright man and at an early age, excelled in the automotive field, leading to awards in high school.
Wendell’s formative years were spent growing up on Longbow Lake with his mom, dad and two siblings, Mitchell and Marshall. During these years, Wendell developed a love for the lake, fishing, hunting, sledding, skiing, hockey, motorcycles, music and cutting wood. Most summers, Wendell could be found pulling his brothers around the lake on water skis for hours at a time.
After graduating from Beaver Brae Secondary School, Wendell worked at the mill before beginning a long and respected career in inspection with TC Energy (formerly TransCanada Pipelines). Early in his career, Wendell met the love of his life, Shelagh (née Emberly), and they were married on July 19, 1997, at their home in MacGregor, Manitoba. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and a shared passion for the outdoors.
The couple later moved to Kenora, Ontario, where they continued pursuing their dreams of exploring nature and enjoying countless outdoor adventures together.
With Wendell’s great aptitude for all things automotive, he also worked in the automotive and marine industry until his retirement in 2025. Following retirement, Wendell and Shelagh moved west to Milk River, Alberta, ready to begin their next chapter and newest adventure.
Although Wendell’s time in his new home was far too short, he truly loved Milk River — the wide-open spaces, the peaceful pace of life, and the gentler climate brought him great happiness.
Wendell was incredibly generous with his time and knowledge and was always quick to help family and friends in their time of need. Wendell and Shelagh were also beyond generous in sharing their homes whether it be a fish fry, barbecue, bonfire or a day on their beach.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of my brother, but I am also deeply thankful to have shared my entire life with him. Wendell loved Shelagh with all his heart and loved the four-legged family members as well.
Nobody could tell a story like Wendell, and he knew them all. He was the keeper of the stories and I will miss that deeply.
At Wendell’s request, no service will be held. Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.
