Police in the Bridge City have charged a 59-year-old man with a long list of weapons crimes, after nearly three dozen firearms were seized from a Canyon Boulevard home on the city’s westside.

On Wednesday, Daniel Hazen Stebbins was arrested for criminal harassment in connection with an investigation that started on Vancouver Island.

Saanich Police, just outside of Victoria, initially responded to a report of a woman receiving almost 60 concerning messages and videos showing an individual with numerous firearms.

Further investigation determined the man lived in Lethbridge.

Police say the woman was going to sell a firearm to the accused, but when the sale fell through, the disturbing messages began.

Stebbins is facing seven counts of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, three counts each of Unlawful Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Prohibited Device, and one count each of Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Criminal Harassment.

He had been waiting for a Judicial Interim Release hearing when police issued the media release.
