‘Grazing Goats’ return to Lethbridge

‘Grazing Goats’ have made their return to Lethbridge.

Also known as the ‘Munching Maniacs’, the goats have returned for their eighth tour of duty in the Lethbridge River Valley.

City officials say the goats are hungry and ready to devour an entire menu of invasive weeds.

For the appetizer: wormwood. The entrée: leafy spurge. And for dessert: crunchy thistle.

The city says the goats will be dining at the following locations:

  • Indian Battle Park
  • Alexander Wilderness Park
  • Pavan Park

Officials say the goats will also be trying a brand-new spot this year – the Nature Reserve, just north of the train bridge.

The city says the goats will be around until July 21, then return for a week in August to finish anything they may have missed.

Officials note, Botterill Bottom Park, isn’t opening its doors to the goats this year, due to bridge construction in the area.

The city says a dog will also be there to ensure the goats stay on task.

Residents in the area are reminded to give both the dog and goats a wide berth. Officials say the goats will likely unwind and digest at camp in the evening hours, but do their work during the day.
