A Lethbridge-raised wrestler arrived back home in Alberta this weekend after competing at last week’s World University Combat Championships in Brazil, her sixth international competition.

Angelina Ellis-Toddington was one of four members of the Canadian squad to earn a silver.

Wrestling in the 68-kilo class for about a year, she was asked if she’s happy in her division, or considering a change in weight class.

“I’m comfortable. This is the weight class I’d like to stick at for now,” Ellis-Toddington said from her home in Calgary.

“It’s an easy weight class for me to make without having to adjust too much in my regular life.”

Ellis-Toddington, 23, who just finished her final year at the University of Calgary, is preparing for a national tournament in a couple of weeks in Ontario.

Her ultimate goal is to be part of Canada’s entry into the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The Canadian national team was able to earn 10 medals at the international event in Brasilia – two gold, four silver, and four bronze, with the ladies side winning eight of the ten.
