Warrior Relay Races returning to Whoop-Up Days

For a fifth year in a row, the Warrior Relay Races will make a return as part of the Lethbridge Rodeo at Whoop-Up Days.

Show producer Kynan Vine says, for those who have never seen the races, the best part is the tradition of where the riders are bareback – no saddles.

“That is the excitement of the event, is the athleticism of obviously the race horses, theyr’e thoroughbred race horses and the competitors but then the exchanging of the horses may happen simultaneously between a few of the teams so it just gets really chaotic and always entertaining on the exchanges.”

While he’s not sure about North America, he says its the only place in Canada where you see the relay races and rodeo competition on the same bill.
