We know that is important: Mayor

Lethbridge mayor refutes online claims the City isn’t doing enough to save Fire/EMS model

The mayor of Lethbridge is defending online criticism suggesting the City isn’t doing enough to keep the current integrated Fire/EMS structure.

Mayor Blaine Hyggen says, in fact, it’s been the opposite and he’s hoping to set the record straight.

“We’ll continue to fight for the service we think is important,” said the mayor at a news conference held last week.

“We know that is important, but there’s a lot of information that is not. Could be misinformation or other information that’s out there that may not point out that we are not doing our best to keep the service and it’s evident as of late.”

Hyggen believes those efforts paid off when Hospital and Surgical Health minister Adriana LaGrange recently intervened in the impasse, calling on Emergency Health Services and the seven communities with the integrated service, to find a solution that works for each jurisdiction.
