Seven Lethbridge non-profits behind the project

Community groups launch annual Christmas Hope campaign for donations, gift cards

Seven non-profit Lethbridge organizations are, once again, joining forces in a campaign that’s become known as Christmas Hope.

Although the holiday season is still a few months away, the groups say the need is always there year-round.

Tim Rempel is the executive director of the Lethbridge Food Bank, one of the groups behind the project, and believes demand is rising every year for LFB.

“We are still seeing an increase in demand for our services. It goes up month by month,” Rempel said during a Christmas Hope campaign launch Monday morning.

“We are forecasting that we will see an increase for the Christmas hamper program when it comes. We, certainly, do have that need in our community, however, it’s nice our community does come to the table and supports us every year.”

Close to 8,800 individuals were helped in last year’s Christmas Hope event.

Besides the Lethbridge Food Bank, donations of cash, items and gift cards are also being accepted by the Interfaith Food Bank, Salvation Army, Lethbridge Family Services, MyCityCare, Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization, and Volunteer Lethbridge.
