Six on board sinking inflatable raft rescued by Water Rescue Team in fast-flowing Oldman River

Hopefully, a valuable lesson was learned by six people on board an inflatable raft, that ended up losing its air, on the fast-flowing Oldman River, near “The Weir” Sunday evening. 

Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services report that 18 crew members from four stations and eight pieces of emergency equipment were needed in the rescue.

The department’s Water Rescue Team used two boats to reach the group, on a river that authorities can’t emphasize enough, was flowing three times its normal rate. 

Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.
