Ottawa announces nearly $7 million in funding towards seniors, affordable housing in Lethbridge

The federal government has announced close to seven million dollars is being spent to improve the seniors and affordable housing situation in Lethbridge.

Parliamentary secretary for Transport, Mike Kelloway, on behalf of federal housing minister Gregor Robertson, said the money will come from Ottawa’s Build Canada Homes strategy.

“I think it’s important to mention we’ll double the rate of homebuilding in Canada with the industry that uses the technology that is necessary but using Canadian workers, Canadian lumber, Canadian supplies, all things Canadian.”

Kelloway said $2.23 million will go towards the refurbished Seasons Retirement Community, now known as the the Edward, establishing 50 living spaces.
