Grant funding to help with U of L-led project addressing teaching challenges in Sierra Leone

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada has awarded almost $1.2 million to the University of Lethbridge. 

The money, part of a government announcement in Edmonton on Tuesday, will be spread out to four faculties and the Dhillon School of Business. 

Dr. Lisa Starr is the Dean of Education at the U of L and is ‘heading up’ a project to provide support for young female teachers in Sierra Leone.

While Dr. Starr feels teaching is the same pretty well everywhere in the world, teachers in the African country face different challenges, including discrimination and, in some cases, violence.
