Change in 'building' philosophy

Parneta agrees to multi-year contract to become Hurricanes full-time GM

Barclay Parneta has moved from his role as interim general manager to GM of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, agreeing to a more permanent role.

While he says he didn’t take the job because things needed to be changed, he says the philosophy of building teams has changed.

“I think the fans, the staff will see really see an influx of players that may not have seen,” Paneta explained during a news conference Wednesday at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.

“It may not necessarily the typical aging of 16 to 20, but a lot of 17 and 18-year-olds in and out through here. That’s a really important aspect of what we’re trying to build here.”
