Lethbridge Police charge teen after late night attack on man at northside park

Jul 27, 2026 | 12:39 PM

Lethbridge Police say they’ve charged a 14-year-old boy with aggravated assault after a 19-year-old man was attacked and injured at a northside park just after midnight, July 23rd.

An investigation by police revealed the teen and another individual, both wearing masks, approached the adult male, who was part of a larger group.

At some point, the man was attacked with a knife and taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

While they cordoned off the park shortly after the incident, LPS wasn’t able to locate the 14-year-old until the next day, on the 24th.

Police add the attack appears to be targetted, in that both the victim and the accused know each other.

The teen, who can’t be named, is charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of an Offensive Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Disguised With Intent, and Failing to Comply With a Probation Order, not to possess any weapons.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court August 12th.
