In Loving Memory of Robert Joseph Hirsch
April 7, 1954 – July 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Hirsch, who passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 72.

Robert was born on April 7, 1954, in Midale, Saskatchewan, and was raised in Redcliff, Alberta, alongside his two older brothers, Jim and John, and his younger brother Randy. He was the beloved son of Peter and Irma Hirsch, who instilled in him the values of hard work, loyalty, and family that he carried throughout his life.

A skilled welder by trade, Robert dedicated his life to his work, even spending time working overseas in Cuba before eventually retiring. He took great pride in providing for his family and was known for his incredible work ethic, determination, and willingness to do whatever it took for the people he loved.

When he wasn’t working, Robert truly enjoyed life. Whether he was on the golf course, watching hockey or baseball, sharing laughs with friends, or gathered around the table with family, he found happiness in the simple moments. He was an excellent cook, a natural storyteller, and someone who could make an entire room burst into laughter with his quick wit and infectious sense of humour.

Robert had a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was impossible not to join. He welcomed people with kindness, loved deeply, and made lasting friendships wherever he went. He was also wonderfully stubborn—once his mind was made up, there was very little chance of changing it, and he would probably still insist he was right. It was simply part of who he was, and those who knew him wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Nothing brought Robert greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren.

Robert leaves behind his loving partner, Nancy Grasso Gonzalez; his brothers, Jim and Randy Hirsch; his sons, Jodie Hirsch and Jesse Hirsch; his daughter, Samantha Bergeron; his stepson, Christopher Housley; his stepdaughters, Ashley Moch and Desiree Moch; and his many cherished grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to know his love, guidance, and unforgettable sense of humour.

To his family, Robert was so much more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a protector, a provider, and a hero. His children knew his love through his unwavering support, his tough-love lessons, and his constant presence. While he may never have admitted when he was wrong, he was always there when it mattered most.

Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his stories will continue to be told, his jokes will continue to be repeated, and his laughter will continue to echo in the memories of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Robert’s legacy is one of hard work, unconditional love, loyalty, laughter, and family. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
